WOW!May 01, 2009

Im a retired Police officer from NY, do part time security and love bicycling. I needed a durable light which I could use on my bicycle and quickly take it with me. I also bought the TwoFish Flashlite Holder. I think if you buy this light and holder you'll be very happy. I use it in flash mode and people have told me they thought it was a police car approaching. This light is amazingly bright and durable. I dropped it a couple of time on my tile floors and concrete outside my home. Other then scuff marks the lights still works. It has 4 setting all of which are useful to me (as a biker). I've owed streamlights, kel-lites, mag-lites and sure-fire lights and for the money this is by far the best! The light will also end stand with the button depressed. It will not stand on its cap in the off position but who needs it to? The light will roll but not as quickly or readily as other lights due to the built in notches. On a slight grades in my driveway the light did not roll away. The light can be used as a defensive weapon due to the cut-outs on the head and tail which are nice features. I was able to break up some ice in the cooler with the trail end. Beg, borrow, steal...although this is not a small flashlight it has too many great features to ignore. Now if I could find a quality duty belt basket weave flashlight holder I'd be set! Hope this review helps your decision.

Built like a tankOct 28, 2009
By J. Hummel I currently own and use the Fenix P1D, PD30, and TA30. The TA30 is a great light, and it is BUILT and it is BRIGHT!!
The best thing to compare it to is a D-cell maglight, but it's really no comparison. This TA30 is a little sleeker, definitely tougher, and unbelievably BRIGHTER. There's no bulb to worry about breaking and the crenelated bezzle is quite aggressive.
The selector switch is an excellent feature and lets you get exactly the mode you desire as soon before ever turning the light on. Tailcap on/off with momentary on and a lockout twist cap to keep the light for switching on inadvertently.
This light is a fantastic light to have around the house or in the car, it will REALLY light the place up! The CR123A batteries are known for a long shelf life, so you shouldn't have to worry about it being dead when you need it.. (Maglites anyone?)
Pros
-BRIGHT!! -Dependable -Simple mode selector -Tailcap switch, momentary on, lockout tailcap -Crenellated bezzle -Aluminum Construction, Shock Resistant Design -Waterproof -Excellent batteries -Better than a bulkier D Cell maglite!
Cons
-Too large to carry on your person -Expensive batteries (CR123A's are an excellent performing and long-lasting battery however)
I will note that if you are interested in a light to carry, either on a belt or pocket, this is NOT the way to go. I'd recommend the PD30, excellent form factor and its just marginally less bright than this TA30.

Very bright flashlight!Oct 26, 2009
By G. Powell I bought this flashlight for my kid in college's bike. The theory being that with the TwoFish Flashlite Holder they could use it both as a flashlight for walking around campus after dark, or as a bicycle light. It is incredibly bright. However the flash mode is epileptic seizure inducing frequency with a flash speed that makes it even hard to look at the things you are illuminating when you are holding the flashlight, never mind oncoming traffic. I'll probably add a Planet Bike 3044 Blaze 1-Watt LED Headlight for the flash mode and recommend that only the regular modes be used on this one.
The housing is very nicely machined and while its lighter than those maglights, it would be useful as a defensive weapon in addition to being able to temporarily blind anyone coming at you at night.
The other nice thing about this light is the low power mode. You don't think about this much, but if you want to actually read a map or some directions you wrote out, you don't want a super high power flashlight because the light reflected off the paper will blind you! And the lower power mode on this light works well for that.
I bought a bunch of the special batteries, and in bulk cost about $2ea. Which is something else to think about, but for that I get a very very bright light when it's in high power mode. Cost/lumins I think this flashlight is all around winner.
Best light for a great priceOct 13, 2010
By Landocrazy I am a police officer in Florida. I carry this light on my duty belt and have carried it for over 2 years. It has been in numerous fights, it florida rain downpoors and Still works perfectly. The strobe function gets peoples attention and if you shine it at there faces it makes them very uncomfortable and they dont want to continue doing what they are doing. light is tuff and the bezle can be used as an impact weapon. i hight recomend it.
Best I've found to this dateMay 22, 2010

This is the best Strobe and multi function flashlight in it's class to date. as Police officer, I count on these to work the way they do. and some say it's strobe is too fast. but, to blind opposition, it needs 10th. sec. strobe to do so. and this is the brightest, and best to date. and even more so when confronting at night time.
