5Mighty Mite of a FlashlightNov 01, 2009
By Randall J. Donner "Bigoldjeff"
I hesitated for a long time to by my Nite Core D10 R2. Around [...] bucks is a lot of money for a 1 AA cell flashlight. I won some money at a casino, and I decided to splurge and get myself one. Now that I have it, it's the flashlight I grab for most often. It so small it fits in a shirt pocket, so I always have it with me. I own D cell Maglights with LED mods, a couple of Fenix flashlights, but this Nite Cord D10 R2 has ended up being my most used flashlight. I installed a single Lithium AA battery in it and it lasting quite well. One of it's best features is the ability to ramp the brightness up or down depending on your situation, so it can be as bright or dim as your conditions require (see the You Tube video by 4Sevens for a complete demo). This light is perfect in my opinion for every day carry. If you are in need of a powerful, yet adjustable beam, easy to carry flashlight, that uses commonly available AA batteries, I highly recommend the Nite Core D10 R2. The price is a little steep, but I was completely won over after I got the flashlight and started using it, every single day. Buy yourself one, you won't regret it.

5Awesome flashlightDec 31, 2010

This is my favorite EDC light by far! Very bright, easy to use interface for adjusting the brighness level and it remembers the last level you set it at, which is a great feature.

Sturdy, mine is beat to crap after ~1 year of use and it's still working great. More than bright enough for most of my needs.

For size comparison it's about the size of a 3" 12ga shotgun shell. Fits very easily in a pocket.

Look no further for an AA light. This Nitecore is very bright and the piston drive UI is really easy to use. The ramping settings allow you to customize the brightness that you'd like your light to turn on to. The strobe is readily accessible with just a click/hold from any setting. Solid and well made, the crosshatch knurling on the barrel and head make it a sure grip although I opted to plasti-dip it for a nonslip grip. A newer model is the Nitecore Smart PD D11 SP R5. Same UI but a slightly brighter R5 led. Very economical to use with recharcheable Ni-MH AAs. It's my every day carry that I alternate with a Sunwayman L10R.

2Bright, but failed after four monthsApr 16, 2011
By S. Lumpkin
WWhen I first recieved this light I was very pleased with the brightness. Always has been a bit twitchy though, and would frequently lock up when changing modes. The only way to fix it was to unscew the cap to reset it. Last night, after only 4 1/2 months, the light failed. It blinks a single time when I remove the top to reset it. Feels well built, and very bright, but due to the rapid failure I will never buy another nitecore.

5Fantastic little yet powerful lightMay 06, 2010
By M. Sullivan
I have been a Surefire user for years. Currently deployed overseas and got sick of my incandescent Surefire bulbs burning out. I wanted a small light I could carry on me and trust to work every time I needed it. As I started looking at prices on the smaller surefire, I was shocked. I started exploring and came across Nitecore and this particular light. I received it today and it is fantastic.

First, I love that it runs on double AAs. The 123 batteries are harder to find and more expensive, especially when you are deployed overseas. Having the ability to run a strong light on double AAs is a huge advantage.

The light itself if built to last. It has a solid feel, easy to grip and the push button activation is a huge plus. The ability to use it as a "candle" due to the flat base is another big plus.

The light itself if fantastic. Simply to switch between the three main modes and it took me less than a minute to figure out the strobe and SOS option. The light throws a crisp, clear, beam with a tight core and decent spill. I am impressed with the color. Only the slightest blue tint. Operation is easy, and all three of the main modes have their uses depending on what you are doing.

A fantastic light at a great price. The batteries are readily available and the LED will last you for quite a long time. Slightly bigger than the battery that runs it, this Nitecore is a hands down winner!
